How We Score and Rank Products
Every ranking on WellnessDealFinder is determined by two proprietary scores — Health Score and Trust Score. No brand can pay for placement. Here is exactly how it works.
Scoring system
Health Score (0-100)
Health Score evaluates the product itself — what is in the formula and how well it is designed.
Ingredient Quality & Sourcing
30%Are ingredients clinically studied? Grass-fed, wild-caught, organic sourcing? Bioavailable forms (e.g., magnesium glycinate vs oxide)?
Dosing Logic
25%Are active ingredients dosed at clinically effective levels? We flag products that under-dose key ingredients or hide behind proprietary blends.
Additive & Sweetener Cleanliness
20%We penalize artificial colors, titanium dioxide, excessive fillers, maltodextrin, and artificial sweeteners. Clean formulas score higher.
Formula Transparency
15%Does the label disclose exact amounts of every ingredient? Proprietary blends that hide dosages are penalized.
Bioavailability & Absorption
10%Does the formulation optimize absorption? Chelated minerals, liposomal delivery, and phytosome technology earn higher scores.
Verification system
Trust Score (0-100)
Trust Score evaluates the brand and its verification — can you trust what is on the label?
Third-Party Testing & Certification
35%NSF Certified for Sport (gold standard) > NSF/USP > Informed Sport > generic third-party testing > no testing. Higher certification level = higher score.
Review Volume & Quality
25%We analyze review count, star rating, verified purchase ratio, and review recency. Products with 1,000+ verified reviews score highest.
Brand Transparency & History
20%Does the brand disclose sourcing, manufacturing location, and COA (Certificate of Analysis)? Brands with a track record of transparency score higher.
Label Accuracy & Disclosure
20%Has the product ever been flagged for label inaccuracy? Are allergens and potential contaminants disclosed? Full disclosure earns full marks.
Our highest distinction
Verified Clean Badge
Products that earn both a Health Score of 90+ and a Trust Score of 90+ receive our “Verified Clean” badge. This is our highest distinction, indicating a product that excels in both formula quality and verification standards.
What we watch for
Red Flags We Penalize
Proprietary Blends
Hides ingredient dosages behind a single combined weight. You can't verify if active ingredients are clinically dosed.
No Third-Party Testing
Without independent verification, label claims are unverified. We do not rank products without third-party testing.
Artificial Colors & Fillers
Titanium dioxide, FD&C dyes, and excessive bulking agents indicate cost-cutting over quality.
Underdosed Key Ingredients
Marketing a benefit but dosing the active ingredient below clinically effective levels.
Misleading Certifications
Claiming 'lab tested' without naming the lab or certification body. Vague claims are treated as unverified.
Excessive Sugar or Maltodextrin
Added sugars and maltodextrin in supplements indicate formula compromise. We penalize heavily.
Transparency
Affiliate Disclosure
WellnessDealFinder earns commissions from qualifying purchases through affiliate links (primarily Amazon Associates). This is how we fund independent product analysis.
Affiliate income never influences rankings. Products are scored solely by Health Score and Trust Score. A product earning us $0 in commissions will outrank a product earning us $100 if it scores higher. Period.
Products must meet our minimum inclusion rules (4.5+ rating, third-party tested) regardless of affiliate relationship. We regularly rank products from brands we have no affiliate relationship with.
